The bugfixing was very educational because I had to dig pretty deep in the Zend Framework to solve the problems. Which helped a lot in making the somewhat abstract structure more tangible. In fact, I started to love the framework so much I decided to start using it for the Testdorp website.

Together with Wim Wepster and Maikel Kersbergen we worked on the Syndicat website. It was (and is) a fun project because design (Wim & Maikel) and development (me) are working very close. Obviously the changes aren’t world-shocking but we all get to experiment a bit while sniffing around in other areas.

For example: I never was a real pixelperfectionist. Usually when an element was a couple of pixels off I just left it there. Thinking it wasn’t that bad. But now I’m starting to pay more and more attention to pixelperfectness and typography because of Wim. He spots those details so quickly I started to realize the importance of those details. And that those details make a difference between a good product and a great product. Now, instead of seeing it as an annoying problem, I see it as a challenge not to make it look good, but great!

Well I guess it’s time for my first blogpost!

This monday I started my internship at Syndicat. Immediately it was an extremely busy day, the day started with preparing my MacBook to be adopted into development network. This was all done by my internship-tutor Ronald van der Feer while I sat there and watched him executing command after command at highspeed in the Mac Terminal.

Around 2 o’clock we moved ourselves to Restaurant Kip for a presentation and workshop about SCRUM. They are planning to use this working-method within their projects and this was the introduction. I heard a lot about the company during this workshop. There couldn’t have been a better way to get to know Syndicat. Around 7 o’clock we got ready for a superb dinner at the restaurant. We had 6 fabulous courses accompanied with some very tasty wines. At 11 o’clock we rounded up and went home stuffed. So you can imagine how hard my first day was… haha!

The rest of the week I dove into Zend Framework and Doctrine which have blown my mind with it’s functionalities. I already feel I learned a lot after this short week. I still need to grow accustomed to sitting behind a screen working all day though. When I get home my brain is dead-tired and full of information resulting in a major headache.

Until then I hope to keep up my blog at least once a week. I’ll keep you posted!
